Main Function of the Department of General Economic Affairs:

1. To formulate, organize and implement the development strategies, mid-term and long-term programs and annual plans of domestic & foreign trade and international economic cooperation.

2. To forecast and early alarm economic development by monitoring the macro status of domestic & foreign trade and international economic cooperation, hence putting forth policy proposals on economic trend and other significant issues.

3. To integrate statistics and information of domestic & foreign trade.

4. To raise integrative policy proposals by researching into and analyzing the situation of domestic & foreign trade and international economic cooperation.

5. To organize the drafting of integrative and subject materials concerning overall situation submitted to the Central Committee of CPC, the State Council, the National People’s Congress, and the National Committee of CPPCC.

6. To lead the implementation of integrative policies and measures stipulated by the Central Committee of CPC and the State Council.

7. To coordinate and harmonize significant policies on domestic & foreign trade.

8. To undertake other issues assigned by ministerial leaders.
